I don't know where the time has gone, but my baby is turning FOUR years old. It really was a rough journey bringing him into this world; now that he is here, it couldn't be better.
During my pregnancies, I suffer from a horrible condition called Hyperemesis Gravidarum. In a nutshell it is characterized by severe nausea, vomiting, weight loss, and electrolyte disturbance. As soon as I hit six weeks (YES! Only six weeks), I was bed ridden with the most severe stomach flu you could ever imagine. I stayed on bed rest until seven months pregnant. I had a home nurse, an IV that I pushed around the house, and a machine connected through my stomach that delivered anti-nausea medication to keep the baby alive. Each night I had to stick an inch long needle into my stomach to keep me free from infection from my machine. He was born a healthy 8lb 11oz! About five days after {R} joined our family, he began turning blue when he would nurse. He was admitted into the PICU for three days. While he was there, they performed every test known to man. On the second day there, he went Apnic, where he completely stopped breathing altogether. Alarms went off and all nurses came rushing in. WORST. FEELING. EVER. They never found a cause other than knowing (from experience) that some of the bigger babies struggle with remembering to breathe. Soon after returning home, he ended up with RSV at 15 days old. Our poor baby boy just couldn't catch a break.
But, here he is. He is an amazingly happy and funny little boy. He is as healthy as can be. He is very big for his age and strong as an ox! He loves stickers, milk, music, animals, snuggles, and asking questions. Although he is turning FOUR years old, he has promised to always be MY BABY!
